Madeleine Child studied ceramics in New Zealand and London where she received a BA(Hons) Camberwell School of Art, Masters from the Royal College of Art and Advanced studies Central St Martins College of Art.
Made from ceramic with gold lustre, these Popcorn for the wall by Madeleine Child are a sweet tease. "The popcorn started after hassling with my kids about buying sugary popcorn. (We had always preferred cheesy tartrazine snacks and savoury flavours). After giving in I became fascinated with it’s fleshy gorgeousness and organic fecundity. Things with some inherent funniness like small explosions are a good starting point for making. I hoped for something of Fontana’s ‘earthquaked but motionless’, with some Rococo decadence."
